In ?? the CFL ordered 8 new trains for the connection of Luxemburg with Trier in Germany. Later on the trains of this series were also placed in the service from Luxemburg to Trier and further on to Koblenz. From Trier they are coupled with the DB Süwex trains of the series 429.1 coming from Mannheim and Saarbrücken.
In 2017 ten other trains were ordered so that the total number came onto 18 trains.
