In 1901 there came the plan to make this line. There were some discussions with local communities, but finally a plan was made. The national governement wanted to make the line with 1000 mm track width, the province of Antwerpen of 1067 mm track width (which was normal in that province). At last it was decided to make the line in 1000 mm track width. In Lier the line ended at the Leuvensepoort; there was no connection with the railway station. In 1914 plans existed, a consession was given, but the First World War prevented the making of that section.
