Capitel 54: Zichem - Scherpenheuvel

Trackwidth: 1000 mm

The first plans (in 1880) were made to create a tram line from Zichem over Scherpenheuvel to Tienen. But as local communities did not show interest in the line, at last only the part from Zichem to Scherpenheuvel was made. In 1887 a positive descision for this part was made, for which the province ordered that it should be laid with 1435 mm track width. The railway company CGB was prepared to run the line with normal rail rolling stock. In 1898 the descision was made to change property to the railway company, after this date the NMVB did not have any participation with this line.

Finance: 355.000 francs (state: 88.000, community of Scherpenheuvel: 149.000, CGB: 118.000)
