Capitel 16: Bruxelles - Leerbeek - Enghien

Trackwidth: 1000 mm

For this line in an early stage there were plans. In 1884 the plan was made, in 1888 the line was ready. In Brussel the line ended on the Place de la Constitution (near the railway station of Brussel-Midi). In 1899 the line was extended to the Rouppeplein in Brussel.

In 1906 the Tramway de Bruxelles did want to create a new tramline from Laken to Anderlecht, and so making competition with the lines of the NMVB. Several discussions of governemental instances led to the descision that the NMVB was allowed to remain the running party. In 1909 the section from Brussel to Het Rad was electrified.

Financing: 1.231.000 franc (state: 308.000, province Brabant: 293.000, province Hainault: 15.000, local communities: 595.000, private persons: 20.000).
