Capitel 96: Maaseik - Kessenich

Trackwidth: 1000 mm

In 1890 plans came from the Netherlands to make a line from Roermond to Kessenich, and it was asked to the NMVB and local communities to extend that line to Maaseik, so there would be a connection Roermond-Maaseik. The municipality of Maaseik stated that the amount could not be entered, so in that year the plans did not came through. Only in 1898 the state and the province were giving enough mony, local communities could only give a small part of the total amount. So there was by then enough money and plans became reality. The line was opened in 1900.

Finance: 307.000 franc (state: 153.000, province Limburg: 47.000, local communities: 4.000).
