Capitel 83: Waterloo - Mont-St.Jean

Trackwidth: 1000 mm

In 1890 there were plans of the local governement of Waterloo and Ohain to create a tram line between these two places. But as there were also othere plans in this surroundings, the plans were abandoned. So the community of Waterloo pleaded for a line from Waterloo to the Monument at Mont St.Jean where a connection between line Brussel-Waterloo (cap.47) and Braine l Alleud-Wavre (cap.74) could be made. In 1895 that line was autorised.

Financing: 320.000 franc (state 80.000, province Brabant 80.000, local community 110.000, private persons 50.000). The private person was the owner of a factory of fertilizer, who wanted to transport 12.000 tonnes yearly.
