The rolling stock was over the years painted in different colours. From the beginning there was grey/white, from 1952 blue/light grey, from 1975 orange, and since 2006 the color is red/grey/white. Couplings were from the beginning a funnel-coupling, from 1952 the +GF+ coupling, which is used in Switserland in many places.

Motor coaches : CFZe 4/4 nrs 1-5

In the beginning of the line 5 motor coaches were ordered at SIG in Neuhausen (Switzerland). Several things (talkings to the railway departement of Switserland, changes during build) were the reason that at the opening of the line on 10 july 19003 only 4 motor coaches were available. Shortly after the fifth motor coach followed.

The motor coaches did have a trolley on the roof for getting electricity. Because this gave a problem with the overhead line of the St.gallen tramway, in 1922 the trolley was replaced by a pantograph.

The motor coaches remained in service until about 1960-1970. In these years, when the new motor coaches 6-8 and the second hand 3-5 entered service, the oldes motor coaches could be sold. Motor coach 2-4 ended in the scrape yard.

NrOut of serviceRemarks
11974 Motor coach 1 got a special end. The motor coach was equal tot the motor coaches which have been in use with the Wetzikon-Meilen Bahn. Under auspicion of a historical club in Meilen the coach was in 1974 repainted in the colors of the WM-Bahn, and was placed as a statue near the railway station of Meilen. Later on it was placed in Gröningen (near Meilen).

51954 Motor coach 5 had another end. In the repair shop of the Trogener Bahn in Speicher in 1954 it was rebuilt as a trailer coach without motors. A new body, a new interior, and it beacme coach 18. As new coach it could not be recognized as the old motor coach 5

Motorr coach : BDe 4/4 nrs 6-8

In 1950, with help of the coutry governement and local communities, new motor couaches could be acquired. A first order was one of 2 motor coaches and a trailer coach, in 1951 the order was changed into 3 motor coaches (nrs.6-8). In june 1952 two motor coaches (6-87) were delivered, in 1953 followed by number 8.

With stronger motors, dead men construction, electro magnetic rail braikes and automatic doors thes motor coaches were very modern in the time they were deliverd. Now the exploitation could be done by one man, so with no extra personal the number of trains could be increased from 17 to 26 up and down rides. Now about every 45 minutes there was a train.

From 1979 on these motor coaches were modernised.
In which year these motor coacehs were scrapped is not known (to me)
One of these coaches has remained in service as party coach and can be hired.

Motor coach : CFZe 4/4 nrs 3-5

In 1961 the possibility came to acquire fairly new second hand rolling stock. As there were only three new motor coaches 6-8 and for the rest only the old motor coaches 1-5 the rolling stock of the Trogener Bahn could not be mentioned modern. The Lausanne-Moudon bahn (a meter gauge suburban railway near Lausanne) stopped exploitation and replaced the trains by busses. In 1954-1955 several new motor coaches and trailer coaches were newly built. In 1961 they were not even ten years old. At first the price which the LMG asked appeared too hight, so no deal could be made. But two years later the price was much lower (it appeared that it was not possible for the LMB to sell the rolling stock).

In may 1963 the rolling stock TL BDe4/4 191-193 were transported from Lausanne to Speicher. Some modifications had to be done, so that nrs 4-5 came into service in 1964, and nr 3 in 1965.

When in 1975-1977 the new articulated motor cars came to the Trogner Bahn, the motor coaches 3-5 were no longer needed. The Trogner Bahn succeeded to find a company to buy the cars. For a fairly low price they were sold to the Stern & Hafrl railway in Vorchdorf (Austria), where they started a third life.

Motor coach : BDe 4/8 nrs 21-25

In the years after 1970 a program of modernissations was carried out, at which track, buildings, signal system of the Trogener Bahn were modernised. Rolling stock should also be modernised. In 1975 the first 3 "pendelzüge" were delivered. Such a Pendelzug is a motor coach and a trailer coach which in normal service always are coupled together. The one cannot ride without the other.

Because the material appeared to be very good in the beginning, the new trains coud be taken into service already in october 1975. A remarkable fact was the presentation on 17 october, where short rides in St.Gallen between the railway station and the Spisertor were carried out as Spisergass-Express. The public could ride free on this part of the line. The manifestation was on the same moment as the introduction of a pedestrian area in the Spisergass (the road in the city near the Spisertor).

The motor coaches have remained in service until the new coaches 31-35 were delivered in about 2008. Motor coach 22-25 have been out of service and have been sold. Coach 21 was for a few years still available. It was painted in a special blue color, and wass used as party-coach. For special occasions you could rent the coach. In 2011 this car has been sold.

Motor coach 21 and 24 have been sold to the Rittnerbahn in the Italian place Bolzano, where they have been taken into service on 24 september 2011.

In the begin of the 21th century the coaches 21-25 were already more than 30 years old. After ordering of 5 new coaches, the new motor coaches could be delivered in 2004 and 2008. They went in service immediately, and from these years the service is fully operated with these coases 31-35.

In normal service there are needed two coaches in base hours, in the peak hours there are needed four coaches. The fifth can then be as spare.

Names of coaces
Some coaches have got a name. They are :
The names of 31 and 32 are double. On one side of the coach the male form is placed, on the other side is the female name. The name of these 5 coaces is placed (fairly small) on the side of the coach near the driving cab, in the front part and in the back part of the coaches.

Snow ploughs

Although not every year there is snow, it can be pretty heavy when snow is regarde. To have all in good order in strong winters, in 1904 a two-axle snowplough was ordered. It was driven electric. The plow in the front side could mechanically be moved.

As long as the rails of the Trogener Bahn were situated in the pavement of the road, the snow plough was pretty good. But when in the years of 1960-1970 more and more of the line got its own right of way, the snow plough did act very good.

Therefore in 1974 a rotary snow plough was bought. It is driven by a diesel motor of 200 hp. The rotary snow plough can be manned by one person. From the driving cab the plough can be moved to both sides of 60 cm outside the center. The exhaustion pipe can also be turned.

As the snow plough is only fit on one side of the coach, the total of the body can be lifted, and rotated over 180 degrees to turn to the other direction.

Special carriages

Because people are skiing in the hills, there were special carriages because of transportation of skis.

In 1951 a 1-axle ski coach was built with parts of coaces C81 and C82 coming from the Altdorf - Flüelen Bahn. How long this ski coach was in service is not known (to me).
